SLOW FOOD DUBROVNIK AT SLOW FISH IN ISTANBUL

Members of the Slow Food Convivium Dubrovnik Nikša Glavić and Ivo Kara-Pešić participated at the first Slow Fish event in Istanbul organized by Slow Food Istanbul (Fikir Sahibi Damaklar), and hosted by the University of Boaziçi (Bosporus).

Between 17 and 20 October more than 70 delegates from Turkey, Italy, Greek, Bulgaria, Albania, Macedonia, Croatia, Serbia and Ukraine together with chefs, university professors, activists and journalist will be discussing the situation in the seas of the Mediterranean and large rivers flowing into them.

The focus of the Istanbul campaign is the issue of overfishing of Bluefish (Pomatomus saltatrix), which is the symbol of the everyday diet of the citizens of the 12-million-people city situated between Europe and Asia. The event starts today at 1pm local time in the mail hall of the University of Boaziçi.

Nikša Glavić, a marine biologist and Ivo Kara-Pešić, head of the Slow Food Convivium Dubrovnik are going to participate at the panel discussion on fish farming and mussels farming with a special attention to the situation in the Adriatic Sea and Mali Ston Bay.
