TERRA M ZA SAJT

Today in Turin a large opening ceremony opens the biggest Slow Food meeting of producers of traditional food in the world: Terra Madre and Salone del Gusto. The Leader of Slow Food Convivium Dubrovnik Ivo Kara-Pešić is going to speak too before more than 3000 traditional producers, fishermen, chefs, gastronomes, university professors, students and senior officials of international institutions.

Terra Madre and Salone del gusto are taking place this year between 23rd and 27th October and there will be more than 3000 traditional producers, fishermen, chefs, gastronomes, university professors, students and activists from all over the world.

At the opening ceremony starting today at 5.30pm besides the President of the Slow Food International and President Obama’s advisor Alice Waters, the founder and honorary President of the movement Carlo Petrini and senior officials of the international organisations, Ivo Kara-Pešić, the leader of the Slow Food Dubrovnik convivium will take the floor too. This great honour was given to the Slow Food Dubrovnik branch because of the results achieved within the framework of the European Project ESSEDRA and excellent organisation of the Terra Madre Balkan meeting in June this year in Dubrovnik.

This year Slow Food Dubrovnik decided to present the wine of a young wine producer from Konavle Pero Crvik, marmalade by a producer from Slavonija Antonija Zelenika and organic cosmetics produced by Sapunoteka from Šibenik. Apart from Slow Food Dubrovnik two more convivia will be representing Croatia through the traditional products: Slow Food Liburnija and Slow Food Slavonica.

Mia Hrnić from the Dubrovnik agency for development DURA is also a part of the Croatian delegation. The goal of visiting Terra Madre and Salone del Gusto is to examine the future cooperation projects with Slow Food and to visit the University of Gastronomic Science in Pollenzo.

Within the official part of the programme comprising more than 400 workshops, tastings, presentations and film screenings a film A miracle Needed (Ci vorrebbe un miracolo) by the Italian director David Minnelle, which was produced by the Art Director of Kinookus Ines Vasiljević, will also be screened.
